D.J.'s - 2018 Yorkshire Salsa Congress

D.J. TULI

DJ TULI Originally from Venezuela, DJ Tuli has been spinning Salsa, Mambo, Cha-Cha and Bachata tunes in London and its surroundings since 2009; working for some of the best salsa organisers in the UK.
Regularly DJ-ing in the UK for the likes of: • Mambo City (London) • Pexava (London) • Incognito Dance (Bucks) • Palladium Mambo (London) • Salsa Bachata Social Club (Reading) • Turntables (London) And has been guest DJ in previous years for Metroltina, Salsa Contigo UK, Ritmo Latino, ABCD, as well has having had the privilege to DJ at one of London's most famous club: Ministry of Sound.
On an international level, she has had the amazing opportunity of DJ-ing at some great European salsa festivals / events such as: • Crystal Salsa Festival (Poland) • Budapest Salsa Festival (Hungary) • Berlin Salsa Convention (Germany) • The Berlin Salsa Congress (Germany) • The Irish Salsa Congress (Ireland) • Power Salsa Festival (Slovenia) • O’Sullivans (Paris) • Mzansi Cape Town Salsa Festival (South Africa)
Tuli started listening and dancing to Salsa music from an early age; passion for which only grew stronger after coming to the UK, performing regularly at a Salsa venue back in the early 90's called "Down Mexico Way"....then in the 00's she joined the Mambo lifestyle Dance Company (directed by Irene Miguel) which also led to dance performances across the UK and abroad.
Although, DJ-ing has been a fairly recent undertaking for Tuli, this has been a thoroughly enjoyable learning curve & she is committed to continuously update her knowledge in Latin music scene and becoming a well accomplished

D.J. Del Solereo

First time with the Yorkshire Salsa Congress team but not a stranger to us in Wakefield and team SalsaUnity we have the very fabulous DJ Del Salereo, just one of the DJ's rocking our Cuban room and also doing some of the afternoon socials.
He plays some cracking stuff on Back2Backfm.net most mornings too folks, so listen in.
DJ Del Salereo started playing Salsa 2004 but played Soul, and Funk in the clubs in London and more on the radio. Early involvement with London community radio stations led to radio and Compare training, and utilising the skills to the now under represented UK Salsa scene on London airwaves hosts two shows a week here www.back2backfm.net also out on broadcast across every corner of London.
Del can play a variation of Salsa knowledge base of Cuban, New York Mambo and Puerto Rican styles.

 Davina is based in the South of England and has a huge following in the South of England and should not be missed

D.J. WILLY  N.L.

Just one of the DJ's Rocking our main crossbody Salsa Room will be international DJ Willy N.L, Humphrey Willemzorg.
DJ Willy’s musical interests span from disco and house to rhythm and blues and Latin. It was back in 1980 when he first appeared as a DJ in his native country. The club where he worked for almost eight years became the most popular one in the country and still is. Willy moved to Holland in 1992 and one year later he was asked to work for the then-famous Latin club, Margarita’s, in Amsterdam, where he was spinning mainly salsa and R&B.
As salsa was getting very popular in the 90s, he was invited to play music at many salsa parties in Amsterdam and other neighbouring cities. At present, DJ Willy is a favourite DJ at most of the major salsa events all over Holland and Belgium. In addition to that, he has been and is spinning at a number of international salsa congresses in almost all the countries in Europe and since 2013 also in India and Dubai. Dj Willy is also the resident deejay at the Salsuri Salsa & Zouk Festival in Suriname.

DJ Mark Johnson

DJ Mark Johnson will be one of the DJ's for our pre-party.
Mark was the very First DJ that I had the pleasure to listen to In Leeds some 3 years ago now and he never fails to deliver some outstanding Salsa Tracks.
You may know Mark as Salsa Rocks weekly resident DJ and the driving force behind Salsa Rocks Grande, a Salsa on Vinyl party in Leeds. Over the years he has had the pleasure of DJ'ing at many prestigious nights including Salsology, TNT, and London's Premier Salsa on Vinyl event - I Like it Like That, plus more local events such as Dance Revolution, Amigos etc.

 After his huge success and popularity at SalsaUnity and Yorkshire Salsa Congress last year playing some wicked Bachata tracks, we are very pleased to announce the return of our Bachata DJ Pelayo Jaimez.
DJ Pelayo Jaimez raised in Spain and Portugal, and originally from Gijón, in the North of Spain. Pelayo grew up in his family's nightlife & latin club business, with early exposure to the scene and endless variety of latin music. This integration in the club scene, along with playing his parents old vinyl records of latin classics, were where Pelayo first took inspiration to start experimenting with his keen interest in music.
He discovered his love of bachata music when he started high school, and shortly after fell for salsa and reggaeton, and in most recent years, kizomba. Pelayo started dj-ing when he was young on an internet radio station for one of the biggest spanish speaking forums in the world. He also had regular spots at his family run bar in the sunny Portuguese Algarve, as well as other local bars in the area. When Pelayo moved to England he starting sharing his passion for latin music by becoming part of the Dance Revolution team as one of their regular djs. Other UK based work includes - Dj-ing at Cubana Latin bar in Sheffield, and numerous private functions and parties. He is now starting to expand more across the

DJ KOKO

 Very pleased to announce the fantastic DJ Koko our International Kizomba DJ.
Her first first visit to Yorkshire Salsa Congress, so we are super excited, she will be DJ'ing in our dedicated Kizomba Room, and will also be doing some of the afternoon socials.

Born in the Gambia, raised in France and England. She has grown up loving different genre of music from bashment, rnb, pop, afrobeat and many more; with her favourite childhood memories tied to Bollywood music. Her love for music began at a young age when her dad used to teach her to dance to Bollywood songs and some 80’s funk. She first came into contact with Kizomba end of 2014 and has truly embrace the Angolan dance as well as the music.

She considers music as her therapy. It allows her to put her daily stress and cares on the back burner for a bit and decompress. She loves getting lost in music and the joyful feelings it stirs up in her chest. Koko is resident dj at Rugby Club - Dance2Infinity, she has played in Bird Hills Golf Club - Dance2kizomba, Gem Bar - Chocolate Tuesday, Festac - Love2Dance, O’Neill’s - Kizomba Sunday, Batuke Festival - Kizomba UK, Dj 48 & Oslo Kizomba Festival- Oslo, Ginga Boo Kiz Festival and many more.

Also rocking our Cuban room will be DJayIrmita....
DJ Irmita, is a longstanding and well respected Salsa & Latin DJ. She is the Salsa Addict’s disc jockey and her passion for Salsa and Latin music make each performance unique. Her ability to create an electric atmosphere to any audience and venue has made her a popular DJ in the UK and Internationally.
Born in Santiago, Chile and of Italian descent, Irma's passion for Salsa music began during her childhood at family parties where Cuban Son, Cumbias, Cuecas and Tango where the order of the day. On her arrival to the UK in the late 1970s this music accompanied the Saturday afternoon reunions of her childhood with the Latin American community of Liverpool where she learnt the traditional songs and dances of Chile and Latin America. Then in 1992, in Xalapa, the cultural capital of Mexico, whilst meant to be studying at university she discovered her true passion and learnt to dance Danzón, mambo and Salsa.
Since then Irmita has played at many Salsa, events, festivals and congresses both in the UK and abroad including Club Cubana Pontins, Salsa Kingdom, Salsa Feel The Heat Summer Weekender, Festival Del Tambor Paris and more, as well as hosting her own Salsomanos events. Irmita has also supported legendary salsa bands as part of the Southport International Jazz Festival as well as promoting some of the best UK salsa talent. More recently Irmita has become a radio co presenter on the UK’s official salsa breakfast show with DJ Del Salereo and the Latin Quarter Team at Back2backFM.
